THE LORE

Grim, terse, and biblical. This is the world as the Drawdown Age tells it.

The Grind

The first god, THE MILLER, built the Great Mill upon the primordial Wholestone and ground reality into being. The residue of creation is AETHERDUST, the substance of all magic. The first law was carved into the Wholestone before there was anyone to read it: NOTHING IS GIVEN. EVERYTHING IS GROUND. Skill is not granted. It is worn into you by the doing.

The Great Rug

The Aurelian Dynasty minted AURELIUM, gold fused with Aetherdust, and ruled for nine hundred years. Then the people stopped grinding and lived on leverage. Came THE GREAT RUG: in a single night the imperial vaults and the capital of Aurelia Prime were pulled into the void. Where the capital stood is now THE TRENCHES, a crater that still whispers. This is the Drawdown Age, and its only moral is old: unearned wealth summons the void.

The Sky

The sun is THE GREEN CANDLE; the moon is THE RED CANDLE. Under the Red Candle the mobs grow harder and the wild loot grows richer. A week is a cycle, and every cycle ends at Candlefall, when the Mill pays out what the week truly earned.

The Zones

Factions & Karma

The MILLWRIGHTS' GUILD keeps the crafts. The ORDER OF THE DIAMOND HAND keeps the law ("We do not sell. We do not break."); their Auditors patrol Mintvale and cut down red names on sight. The RUGBORN are the void-cult of the Trenches, and every killer is one of theirs in spirit. The TRENCHFOLK trade with anyone and trust no one.

You begin VERIFIED, white-named. Kill a Verified player in a PvP zone and you go RUGBORN, red for thirty minutes: attackable by all, barred from Mintvale, hunted by the Auditors. Kill again and the timer grows. Red on red is no sin.

Death

Fall in the wild and you drop your bag: a Bagstone holding everything you carried, free for any scavenger to scoop before it decays. Fall to a beast in a safe zone and you wake at the Fountain, your gear a little more worn but still yours. "X rekt Y in The Trenches."

Dustweaving

Aetherdust is released by the grind itself and bound into eight spells learned from scrolls: BURN, PUMP, DUMP, HEDGE, MINT, FORK, MOONSHOT, and LIQUIDATE. The dust does not last. Neither does anyone who leans on it.
